EXECUTIVE COACHING FAQs

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH AN EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP COACH?

Where do we meet for coaching sessions?
I work with most of my executive coaching clients through Zoom. This allows you to have more privacy then your office suite may allow, giving you more space to talk openly and without interruption.
How long is a typical executive coaching session?
It really depends on your leadership development goals and what you’re looking to accomplish. As we start to work together, we’ll develop a plan of action to figure out how long and how often we’ll meet. Know this could shift over time as your needs change.
How will I know if you are the right executive leadership coach for me?
You might have a feel for it after reading my website. Perhaps something about my approach to leadership development has resonated with you. Most executive coaching clients gain a stronger sense of fit after we have an initial conversation about what leadership challenges they are facing. Where are you struggling with moving your business forward? What has changed in your world that now has you snagged? What leadership skills are difficult for you to step into?
What do I do to get started with executive and leadership coaching?
We’ll get started with an initial coaching conversation (via phone or video). I’ll learn about you and your leadership challenges, you can learn a little more about me, and we’ll figure out if it makes sense for us to begin your executive coaching journey together.
What leaders do you best with as an executive coach?
My ideal clients are successful executives and entrepreneurs – skilled at tapping into their talents and gifts to create new enterprises, unique innovations, and value for others.

Somewhere along the way they’ve become snagged – by circumstance, by their own limits, by deeper complexities in their operations. They have often read books and blogs and taken courses and webinars to find an answer.

Often, they’re trying to seek resolution with the same great skills that got them where they are. But this time it’s different. They need support. A guide. A customized leadership development approach to help them navigate their way into new capabilities for them and their business.

What is executive leadership coaching like with you?
I will not kid you – expect a lot of work. A lot of work and raw, honest coaching conversations about where you are, what is binding you, and where you want to be. There is no prescribed path.

Together we will define your initial leadership development goals and then navigate the messiness together. One step at a time. With increased self-reflection, open sharing, and customized homework, leadership capabilities will be built to enable embodied, sustained transformation. Over time you and your team will begin to see and feel the changes underfoot.

Does anyone cry in front of you?
At times. And that’s ok. There’s a tremendous amount of passion and challenge woven into our leadership development journeys.

Sometimes we share tears of joy for milestones finally accomplished. Sometimes tears are fueled from fear, anger, and frustration. Why is this so hard? Am I on the right path? Am I being called somewhere new? We can talk about it all.

Uh, you just mentioned a lot of emotions… are we really going to go there?
Sure. You bring all of you into your work as a leader every day (at least I hope you do), and we will invite all of you into our coaching sessions. As an executive leadership coach and certified Integral Master Coach™, this is what I’ve been trained to do.
How do I make the most out of our leadership development work together?
I know from experience that there are very few places where you can lay it all out as an executive with someone who can hear it, understand it, and have the capacity to help you navigate it. Bring it all. Talk openly. Do the homework. Take this seriously. It’s time for a change.
How does Integral Coaching® support leadership development?
Integral Coaching® is a coaching modality based on Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory work. This holistic approach embraces multiple levels and lines of development, states of consciousness, personality types, and Wilber’s four-quadrant grid (“interior-exterior” and “individual-collective”) of how we experience the world.

As an executive leadership coach who is a certified Integral Master Coach™, I hold all this complexity in the background so that you, as a client, experience an elegantly simplified and uniquely customized approach.
