About Executive Leadership Coaching

AN EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP COACH WHO PARTNERS WITH YOU

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.

Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Coaching is a partnership.

LGBT Executive CoachI love biking with my family. When the kids were little, I would often hook a trailer behind my bike and head off along the Potomac River – sailing along the bumpy path through the canopy of trees.

The kids, safely buckled in with their little helmets, would take in the sights, talk (boy could they talk!), sometimes cry and sometimes sing.

Many experience coaching (or assume it is) like this … the coach pulling the client along a prescribed path… directing, telling, advising along the way.

Coaching, I believe, is more like riding a tandem bike.

As coach and client, we travel and co-create your journey together. You are in the driver seat, working on the changes most meaningful to you and your business.

Executive Leadership CoachAnd I bring my experience and expertise to hold the bike steady, to provide a map to orient and guide us, to energize or slow you down when needed, and to help interpret what you are experiencing and seeing along the way.

Together we work on identifying and building the muscles to help you get you from where you are right now to where you long to be… a completely customized endeavor.

Our work is about helping you discover, develop, and master the power and form of your true leadership.

I combine my own personal experience as a former Inc. 500 CEO with one of the most advanced maps of transformation ever created to help successful entrepreneurs overcome obstacles in their work and personal lives.

How change occurs…

Grounded in Integral Theory, I work from a holistic model of how change occurs – considering not only you and the unique way you move in the world, but also who and what supports you in the ever-changing landscape in which you operate.

Together, we’ll develop a clear understanding of where you are, a vision of where you long to be, and co-create a program to build the muscles you need to grow and embody this new vision.

I first experienced the benefits of coaching when I was the CEO of a small women-owned business… one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the country at the time.

As we grew in both size and complexity, each year called for reinvention of both my leadership as well as the business. Sometimes new skills came naturally, and sometimes I sought support to build the new developmental muscles needed.

We became more strategic in our focus and began to direct our growth in ways that provided the kind of value that led to a successful exit event in 2011 to a Fortune 500 company.

For fun.

Honestly, in those years I spent as an executive, “fun” was often one of the last things on my to-do list. It wasn’t until after the business was sold, when I had the financial freedom to do anything and be anything I wanted, that I realized how truly lost I was.

Thanks to the wise and compassionate guides who helped, and continue to help, me navigate my transformation, I’m learning to surrender into the “art of fun.”

Today, I love exploring new places with my wife and kids – hunting waterfalls, hiking mountain trails, and biking long stretches of road. And, yes… I’ve learned to unplug and take real vacations!
